Tips for sharing code.
- Don't worry about sharing until you need to.
- Make a files/ directory for things that aren't in the RCS. These files should never be modified. If you need one you don't have, you can just scp it over and be done.
- in mature code, do this instead of having a block commented out:
This way, if someone turns it on, it only makes a small one-line diff (False -> True) that is easy to ignore, not the un-commenting of it.
- It pays to make the code clean eventually, because otherwise we'll be recording small clean-up changes all the time. But this shouldn't be the priority when first writing it.
