The general idea here comes from a class I had a while ago.


Blue: This equation is very important.
Blue: But you won't learn why until you get to grad school.

Blue: This equation works empirically, but no one knows why.  But be
    sure you know it for the test.
[later]
Blue: Gamma isn't a fudge factor, it makes the equation
    exact... believe me.
[later]
Blue: This equation is important, but I don't have time to explain it
    to you.
MrBeige: I never liked those classes that were taught by assertion.
